We delivered a state-of-the-art 3D visualisation wall at Loughborough University, providing an immersive, interactive environment for enhanced learning and research.

Project Overview

We designed and delivered a state-of-the-art 3D visualisation wall for Loughborough University to revolutionise the learning and research capabilities in their digital labs. The installation provides a highly immersive environment for students and researchers to explore complex datasets, enhancing their understanding and interaction with digital content.

Solution Detail

The transformative educational solution features an impressive 7.5m x 2.1m visualisation wall, utilising 4K resolution for crystal clear image quality. Interactivity is delivered through an advanced tracking system that adapts the virtual world to the user's perspective, providing unparalleled immersion.

The visualisation wall uses projection technology to display detailed and dynamic 3D content. This enables multiple users to simultaneously engage with the virtual environment for activities such as design reviews, interactive training, and complex data analysis. The setup includes six cameras for precise user tracking and active 3D glasses that adjust the virtual view based on the user's movements, allowing for an immersive walkthrough of virtual models.

To further enhance the immersive experience, the system is integrated with a powerful audio system, delivering surround sound that complements the visual data. This multisensory approach ensures that users have a holistic understanding of the data they are working with.

Technology and Software

The visualisation wall is powered by our proprietary Visionary Render software. This software allows the creation of bespoke VR scenes that replicate real-life scenarios in a 1:1 scale. It provides full functionality for users to develop custom VR scenes for various applications including manufacturing plans, engineering prototypes, and operational training.

Our solution includes ongoing support and training for the university staff, ensuring they can fully leverage the capabilities of the visualisation wall. This futureproof approach guarantees that the system remains relevant and beneficial as the curriculum evolves.

Client Testimonial

Professor Ilias Oraifige, Head of School of Engineering and Computing at Loughborough University, commented:

"The advanced visualisation facility enables us to operate at the cutting edge of technology, providing our students and researchers with world-class tools to enhance their learning and innovation capabilities."

Sustainability and Efficiency

When selecting the suitable display solution, we considered the total cost of ownership to align with the university’s sustainability initiatives. Our choice of projection technology delivers lower operational costs and energy efficiency, ensuring a sustainable and cost-effective solution.

Conclusion

The 3D visualisation wall at Loughborough University represents a significant leap forward in educational technology, offering immersive and interactive experiences that prepare students for real-world challenges. Our collaboration with the university exemplifies our commitment to delivering cutting-edge VR solutions that drive innovation and learning in academia.
