We’re excited to announce that we’ll be exhibiting at the International Conference on Computer Applications in Shipbuilding (ICCAS) in September 2019.
ICCAS is organised by the Royal Institution of Naval Architects and this year takes place in Rotterdam 24th– 26th September. The event will be attended by representatives from the global shipbuilding and marine industry and will showcase the practical application of computing technologies across all aspects of the design, production and in-service operation of ships and marine structures.
This year we will showcase our advanced visualisation technology solutions and demonstrate to delegates how they can be used to solve some of the most pressing challenges facing the industry today.
As well as showcasing & explaining our work with visualisation technology for MoD projects, this will be an opportunity to explore emerging visualisation applications and their relevance to the shipbuilding industry, with particular emphasis on the use of the fully immersive visual digital twin.
Framing the Digital Twin
Our Senior Product Manager, John Murray, will be delivering a talk on the applications of the Digital Twin within the shipbuilding industry, at the event.
Talk Synopsis
“While the Digital Twin is a widely accepted and deployed concept, it’s not deployed consistently across the entire value chain of a product. This owes largely to it’s origins in the design and production phase and it’s subsequent framing as a tool for that purpose. This presentation contends that a more comprehensive and pervasive digital twin can be achieved if the means by which it can be interacted with can be framed for the particular context and circumstances of the intended consumer.”
See the visual digital twin in action
We are only just beginning to move towards the use of fully immersive digital twins in the shipbuilding industry, but expect this technology will play a key role in digital transformation within this sector. Our exhibition stand will include our interactive visualisation demonstrator so that delegates can see for themselves what it is like to work in an adapted virtual reality environment. We’ll also be using our ActiveMove to demonstrate real-world data from an actual ship.
If you are attending this year’s ICCAS please do visit our stand at the Postillion Convention Centre WTC, Rotterdam, Netherlands, where you can see for yourself our demonstration of a fully immersive visual digital twin.
